modern men are involved in an unprecedented ecological crisis that poses a serious threat to human existence. This crisis forces human beings to rethink their cultural traditions, their patterns of development, and their life styles. By revealing the various antagonisms, conflicts and tragedies between man and nature, man and wowan, and Eastern and Western man, Forster＇s A Passage to India criticizes Western erocentralism, anthropocentrism and androcentrism, highlighting the necessity of eco-consciousness from many different angles. This is through ecopoetics that man can seek reconcilization to nature, realize self and achieve Eco-self.
