The Development Trend of Chinese Folklore in the New Century

现代世界民俗学经过一个多世纪的建设,已经超越了一国民俗学的时代。民俗学家们不再以研究本民族或他民族来作为自己与人类学家的区分标准。另外,民俗学家已经很难指望在什么偏僻角落发现不为外界所知的奇风异俗。在世界民俗学的学术视野中研究世界各地的民俗事象,实现对民俗创造者的代际理解、族际理解、国际理解乃至普世理解,应该成为民俗学研究的最终目标。中国民俗学应该而且能够与世界民俗学有机结合。

Through a century＇s effort, modem world folklore does deserve the real sense of the term now. Folklorists no longer focus on their own ethnic group or the other groups to distinguish themselves from anthropologists. It is also difficult for folklorists to find some strange or unique customs in a remote place of the modem world. From the perspective of world folklore, folklorists devote themselves to the understanding between the generations, between the ethnic groups, between the nations or even a universal understanding of the folklore creators. This should be the ultimate goal of folklore studies and Chinese folklore should organically combine itself with world folklore.
