A Comparison Between English and Chinese Euphemisms

英汉两种语言都有大量的委婉语,具有很多相似处。但由于不同的文化传统、不同的历史背景等因素,它们之间在表现形式及文化内涵等方面有着明显的差别。对二者进行对比分析,找出它们的异同,有利于促进人们对此问题的进一步认识,加深彼此间的文化了解。

There are many euphemisms both in English and Chinese. English-Chinese euphemisms have many similarities but more differences on forms and connotations because of different cultural tradition and historic background. To make a comparative analysis between them will enable us to gain a deep insight to this problem and have a better understanding to each other.
