The pragmatic usage and translation of such words as shall, will, may, should or must that often appear in the numerous legal documents like WTO legal instruments and international business contracts in English merits our attention and study, because they all appear in the important places of the contract clauses. Understanding the different meanings, usages as well as the differences of these words in different clauses of legal texts will surely contribute to our correct understanding and accurate translation of the legal documents of business as a whole.
