The surface properties of VPO catalyst have been characterized by TPD,FT-IR and XPS using H2O,pyridine,O2 and H2 as the molecular probes.It was found that active oxygen sites,Lewis acid sites and Bronsted acid sites as well as V5+/V4+ redox couples were present on the surface.The mechanism of propane selective oxidation to acrylic acid and acetic acid was suggested.The effect of water has been studied as well.
