Making Public Libraries the Spiritual Land of Promise for Peasant Workers in Cities

本文从公共图书馆的性质和作用方面论述了其对满足城市农民工这一特殊的社会群体学习知识、丰富精神生活的条件和可能;分析了造成农民工进入公共图书馆难的主、客观因素;从观念、体制、服务等角度阐述了解决此问题的途径和办法。

This paper aims to demonstrate the condition and possibilities for public libraries to satisfy the needs of city labors for more knowledge and richer spiritual life, most of them come from rural areas across the country. It is done from the perspectives of the nature and the function of public libraries; in detail, it analyzes the obstacles during the access to public libraries presented on the part of these workers due to both objective and subjective factors; and it also puts forward some possible solutions to the problem fi＇om the angles of psychology, mechanism and service.
