论当前中国英语过热的弊端与世界语的推广

On the Malpractice of English in China at Present and the Popularization of Esperanto

连续20多年的英语热,对我国的改革开放,学习和引进国外先进的科学文化,起了极大的促进作用,但也产生了不容忽视的弊端:一是大量英语学习者学非所用,浪费了巨大的财力、物力、精力和时间;二是助长了国际霸权主义与文化语言的不平等。解决的方法之一,就是推广中性、易学的世界语,以利于推广世界的平等交流与融合。

English has been hot in China for more than twenty years, which has made great contributions to China＇ s open-door policies to the world and brought about a great advance in learning and introducing cultures, science and technology from other countries. But at the same time, it has produced some drawbacks which can not be ignored. Firstly, many people who have learned English for many years do not have any opportunities of using English after their graduation from school. Learning English is just a waste of their money, property, energy and valuable time. Secondly, such a situation may only help encourage national hegemonies and inequality of different cultures and languages in the world. In order to promote an equal communication and harmony world-widely, one of the ways of solving the problem is to popularize a neutral, easy-to-learn language——Esperanto.
