On Documents of Foreign Explorers in China in Modern Times and Their Values

近代外国探险家在我国西北地区的活动是新疆地方史研究的重要内容。相关参考资料已往多以域外为主。文章对最近新疆档案馆首次刊布的外国探险家来华档案进行了简介,同时从“印证、补阙、辨误”等方面分析评述了文献在研究近代外国探险家新疆考古活动及近代中外关系史方面的价值。

Foreign exploration in Northwestern China is an important part of Xinjiang local historical study. Previously, relevant documents are mainly from out of Xinjiang. This paper introduces documents of foreign exploration in China publicized by Xinjiang Archive Establishment and further comments on the historical values of documents in studying modern foreign explorers in Xinjiang archeological activities and modern international relations between China and foreign countries.
