对当前情报界“情报检索”与“文献检索”的相互关系、有关“情报检索”类型的几种常见的观点进行了分析，认为情报检索与文献检索实质上是相同的。

The authors hold that there are no differences, in essence, between information retrieval and document retrieval. Information (or document) retrieval includes bibliography retrieval, current awareness search, data retrieval and fact retrieval.
