This paper puts forward the conception of offering Innovative Mechanical Design course in colleges and universities, whoso characteristics are that students can use modem designing means and methods to design mechanical products, and personally manufacture them so as to cultivate their overall design abilities, innovative abilities and abilities to use their hands. This paper also studies and discusses some key problems in offering this course, and puts forward some solutions to the problems.
