Study on Histology of the Mucosa of the Tongue and the Oral Cavity in Red Panda

小熊猫的舌粘膜由角化的复层扁平上皮和固有层构成,无粘膜肌层.舌腹面粘膜平滑,未形成舌乳头.舌背面的粘膜特化为舌乳头.舌乳头有丝状乳头、菌状乳头和轮廓乳头几种,未见典型的叶状乳头.味腺仅分布于轮廓乳头和舌根部位,主要由粘液性腺泡组成.硬腭粘膜形成光滑的弓形腭褶.软腭和口腔底部粘膜的固有层内有发达的腺体,几乎全是粘液性腺泡.

The mucosa of the tongue contains a keratinized stratified squamous epithelium and a lamina propria, but no muscularis mucosa. The ventral mucosa of the tongue does not form lingual papillae, but the dorsal mucosa has three kinds of lingual papillae called filiform, fungiform, and circumvallate papillae. There are not typical foliate papillae. The taste glands, which nearly contain mucous acini, are present in the regions of the circumvallate papillae and the root of the tongue. The mucosa of the hard palate contains several pairs of smooth bow-shaped folds. The mucosa of the soft palate and the base of the oral cavity contain rich digestive glands, which almost consist of mucous acini.
