《石灰吟》不是于谦的作品。它的最早版本,应是宋末元初高僧释信忠禅师所作的一首僧偈。明清两代,先后出现了于谦、李都宪和刘儁三位作者。于谦说最终成为共识,反映了中国古代对于“文如其人”的要求。《石灰吟》也因被归为于谦的作品而终成千古名诗。

A Chant to the Lime was not written by Yu Qian (于谦) . Its original version was a Buddhist hymn turned out by Venerable Buddhist Xinzhong (信忠禅师) at the cross-period of the Song and Yuan Dynasties.It was told one by one that A Chant to the Lime was written by Yu Qian or Li Duxian (李都宪) or Liu Jun (刘儁) in the Ming and Qing Dynasties; the fact that the authorship of Yu Qian was commonly acknowledged at last met the requirement of the principle 'like man, like word' put up by the classical Chinese literary theory.
