Clarifies what Imre Lakatos＇ framework of scientific research implies and, correspondingly, demonstrates that the core of John Dewey＇s framework of philosophy of technology of pragmatism is ＂instrumentalism＂ which was called as the ＂hard core＂ by Lakatos in his scientific research framework. And what Dewey defined and understood about technology, his theory of technology exploration and the value and ethic of technology are all his theoretical hypotheses based on the instrumentalism, which correspond to Lakatos＇ ＂protective belt＂ in his framework of scientific research, while the method of instrumentalism corresponds to Lakatos＇ ＂heuristics＂. So, it is a meaningful guidance to lead the basic framework of philosophy of science to philosophy of technology.
