印度与日本之间的双边关系是影响亚洲地区格局的重要因素。冷战结束以来,印度的“东向战略”与日本的“南下战略”在相动的基础上找到了共同点,印日关系获得迅速发展,尤其两国在经贸、亚洲与印度洋战略安全、联合国改革等一系列重要领域出现引人注目的突破。印日关系将继续保持发展的态势,但由于受制于一系列不确定的因素,印日关系的未来发展不会一帆风顺。印日两国同为中国的重要邻邦,其双边关系的走向势必将对中国的安全环境产生重大影响。

The relationship between India and Japan is an important factor influencing Asian political arrangements. Since the end of Cold War, New Delhi and Tokyo have begun to identify overlapping interests by initiating the 'East Look' policy of India and 'Southward Strategy' of Japan. There has been obvious progress in the bilateral relations such as economic cooperation, Asia-Indian Ocean-centered security calculations, and initiative to reform the UN to seek their permanent Security Council membership. On the other hand, the prospect of Indo-Japan ties will still be subject to some constraining and uncertain factors.
