试论英汉语言的声调和语调

On English Intonation and Chinese Tone

语言在利用音段音素组成一个表义系统的同时,也利用一些伴随音段音素出现的超音段语音现象,来表达某些词汇和语法。因此,各种语言的语音结构都包括音段结构和超音段结构。在实际语流中,这两种结构是结合在一起的。本文围绕超音段结构中的声调和语调的定义、特征、及其语言功能对英汉两种语言进行了简要的对比。

Language is a system of expressing meanings by acans of segments-phonenes, Meanwhile, it also uses some suprasegments such as intonation, tone, stress, etc. to express its words and grammar. Therefore, the phonetic structure of a language consists of segmental and suprasemental elements. And the two structures are combined in the actual speech. In this essay, a brief comparison between English language and Chinese language is made by introdocing the definitions of tone and intonation, their features, and their functions in the two languages.
