长篇报告文学《台北的忧郁》与诗文集《太阳的葬礼》是王钟陵教授2005年出版的两本创作集。大气、诗性、隽永深邃,是王钟陵教授文学创作的明显特点。古今中西文学的营养交融于王先生的这两部文学作品的创作中:西方意象派及现代派手法的运用,中国古典诗词韵味的糅合,对报告文学、散文、新诗三种文体应如何突破的清楚认识,以及将此种认识在创作中予以成功实践。这些都与作者那学者而兼作家的睿智与才情息息相关。

The long reportage of The Melancholy of Taibei and the anthology of The Funeral of the Sun by Prof. Wang Zhongling were published in 2005. The outstanding characteristics of his works are magnanimous, poetic, profound and meaningful. The literary elements of the ancient and modem, of the Chinese and foreign, are fused into his works as are shown in the use of imagist and modernist techniques, the borrowing of poetic flavor from Chinese classical poetry, the understanding of how reportage, prose and poem can break through in style, and the practice into which this understanding is put. All these are correlated with Wang＇s wisdom and literary gift.
