战争直接确立了救亡和启蒙这两大基本主题,这是主流意识形态话语和民间话语共同的聚焦点,规范了五四文学革命生成的两大文学母题。战争使新式教育获得了确立,而新式教育又使“八九十年代”出生的一代的文化心理结构承受着晚清以来所接纳的全部西学的滋润,解放了他们被束缚和桎梏了许久的人性,这就为他们成为五四文学发生的创建主体和接受主体奠定了坚实的基础。

War directly led to the two themes： saving the nation from extinction and enlightenment, where the mainstream ideology discourse and folk discourse focalized. War helped the establishment of a new form of education, which in turn nourished the minds of the generation born in the 80s and 90s, emancipating the shackled humanity. All this laid a solid foundation for the birth and reception of the May 4 Movement literature.
