一般研究汉武帝,人们总是着眼于他对汉民族的伟大贡献、丰功伟绩与风流逸事,或是对其功过进行分析评价,却很少注意他在接班人问题上的种种心理活动和具体做法。以时间为顺序,以事件发展为线索,逐次叙述汉武帝更换继嗣的全部过程,探讨武帝在这个过程中的心理活动,以揭示封建社会帝王更换继嗣时的一般规律和典型活动。

Generally, the research of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, always focuses on his great contributions to the Han nationality and his romantic anecdotes. However, while examining his merits and faults, scholars seldom analyze his mental activities in working out the succession plan and the concrete ways of implementing it. This paper, in explaining the whole process of how Emperor Wu＇ s changed his successors to the throne one after another, aims to probe into his psychological activities and hereby to discover the fierce contradictions generated in imperial successions in the feudal period as well as the general rules and practices.
