On the Concept of "Filial Piety Prevails on Loyalty" for the Scholars in Wei and Jin Dynasties

"忠"、"孝"是中国古代两种最重要的道德观念,二者都是维护封建统治的伦理基础。通常统治者往往更重视忠,但魏晋时期却由于种种原因,忠孝关系倒错,形成了"孝先于忠"的观念。

＂loyalty＂ and both of them were and ＂filial piety＂ were the two most important ethics concepts in archaic China, the ethics basis for the maintenance of the feudalistic domination. Usually the dominators appreciated the ＂loyalty＂ more, but the relations between ＂loyalty＂ and ＂filial piety＂ were changed in Wei and Jin Dynasties for variance reasons, and formed the concept of ＂Filial Piety Prevails on Loyalty＂.
