Extremely Civilized but Simple: A Dimension of “The Doctrine of the Mean”

中庸之道必须由中庸之“德”来开启,而中庸之“德”展开为一个由浅而深、由疏而密的动态过程:由修道者“智仁勇”之“三达德”、到君子在“诚之”过程中打开的“诚”、再到圣人无息的“至诚”之德。只有质素平淡,才能将声、色、文、采等一起接收,才能革去偏杂,而进至兼德之中庸境界。通过中庸之德,个体的生命才得以与流行的天命相互贯通。

The way of golden mean must be opened by the virtue of mean, while unfoldment is a dynamic process from shallow to deep and from sparse to dense. This process starts from the three virtues named wisdom, benevolence and bravery, to honesty and the effort to be honest, finally completes to the sage＇s highest sincerity. Only through light innate nature can the sound, the color, and so on be gained together, can change go mixed, and can doctrine of the mean of boundary arrive. The individual life only then can mutually link up with the Destiny.
