摘要
仅仅只是在几个世纪前,科学才成为一门独立的学科,与哲学分离开来。在科学中占统治地位的还原论和机械论观点从此一直在世界观中占统治地位。但在现代社会,随着量子物理学研究的深入、大规模技术的发展、人口增长和人类交往的增加,对自我组织或突现现象的不断增长的了解表明纯还原模式无法解释众多的普遍现象,正如飓风的整体运动无法以飓风内部的分子的相互运动来解释一样。人们需要以整体的、因果循环的观点来发现突现宇宙的意义并思考整体科学的可能性。
Only during the past several centuries has science established itself as an independent discipline from philosophy. Thus reducionistic and mechnistic views have dominated science and our scientific worldview. In recent years, as the development in quantum mechanics furthered, large-scale technologies developed and human population increased, the developing understanding of selforganization or emergence has suggested that purely reductionic methods fail for a unbiquitous class of phenomena, just like the relative movement of air molecules has no way of describing the holistic movement of a hurricane. It is necessary for humans to find the meaning of an emergent universe from a holistic and circular causative perspective, and to ask "is a holistic science possible?"
