朱次琦作为晚清南海鸿儒,提出“四行五学”说以正修身读书之道并以此为治学思想传诸后世。其修身“四行”以发挥程朱理学的道德论而见长,而读书“五学”则是通过挖掘儒学思想中的“经世”因素,来纠正当时学术之弊病,其中体现着重“贱履”和“致用”的思想。在晚清国势日蹙的历史条件下,具有积极意义。同时这一思想对康有为也有重要影响。

Zhu Ci - qi , a famous scholar in Nanhai in the Later of Qing Dynasty brought forward his thoughts on 4 actions of morality cultivation and 5 areas of studies and imparted them to his pupils. His thoughts on morality cultivation developed the moral theory by the Confucian school of idealist philosophy in the Song and Ming Dynasties but 5 areas of studies aimed to utilize the pragmatism factor to correct the scholastic malady of his time. Its emphasis on practice and practical utility was reflected in Zhu Ciqi＇ s thought , which possessed the positive role under the historical background that the late Qing Dynasty was on its way downhill. The theory had an important effect on Kang Youwei.
