试评广州地铁站汉语标示的英译

A Comment on the English Translations of the Chinese Signs in the Guangzhou Metro Stations

要把广州建成国际化旅游城市,良好的公共交通及旅游文化环境是必不可少的。广州地铁是公共交通一个重要组成部分,其汉语标示及英译装潢醒目,字体美观,但英译的准确性还存在种种问题。文中根据文化与翻译的有关理论对此试作评论。

A good public transport and cultural environment for tourism are indispensable in building Guangzhou into an international tourist city. Of its public transport, Guangzhou metro is an important par, in which the Chinese signs and their English versions are beautiful in calligraphy and attractive in decoration. Nevertheless, there are problems in correctness of English translations.This paper,based on theories concerning culture and translation,attempts a tentative comment on the problems.
