Abstract In recent years, plastics has been showing rapid increase in its social and industrial roles. To the contrary, therrare no satisfactory Systems for recycling waste plastics. Under such circumstances, the authorhas adopted a process for preoducing oil from waste plastics as a hopeful means for solving those subjects andexplains the basic principles of said process, i.e.,thermal decomposition and catalytic cracking.Further, for an example of an oil-producing plant in actual practice,the author takes OkegawaCity's plant, which is aimed to treat plastics from domestic wastes, and reports the properties and mass balance of the product oil obtained from the plant.
