鲁达慈悲情怀辨考——《水浒》人伦和谐之一

A Textual Research & Analysis of Lu Da's Benevolence——One of the Harmonies among Human Relations in the Novel of Shuihuzhuan

一部《水浒》把108将性格写尽。其中的鲁达是个任性率直的卤莽人,既助人救人,又杀人放火,但作者却安排他放下屠刀,立地成佛,最终找到一个较完好的生命归宿。鲁达这样的仗义英雄,禅杖打尽不平路,戒刀刺向对垒人,虽五台山出家,却又不像出家人性格,除了“戒淫欲”外,杀生、偷盗、嗔怒、恶口样样没禁,却能立地成佛,这完全因为他有一腔撼天动地的慈悲胸怀,并且童心无忌。

The novel Shuihuzhuan fully depicts the characters of 108 figures. As one of them Lu Da is self - willed, frank and straightforward. He both hepls and rescues people and also kills people and sets fire. The writer finally arranges a better home for him to return to, letting him drop his cleaver and become a Buddha. Being a gallant hero he has a strong sense of justice and is always ready to help the needy and kill the evildoers with the monk＇s staff and knife. Although he goes to Mount Wutai and becomes a monk, nothing can be found in him of the features of a monk. He violates religious disciplines by killing, stealing, being angry, and using foul language except for lust. Can he really become a Buddha？ Many Buddhism scholars and writers don＇t agree on it. The author tends to interpret its code of body ＆ mind by trying to see through the truth from the surface from the perspective of Buddhist＇s doing nothing.
