Japanese women and the three types of relationship between them and Chinese men in the novels during the period of "May 4th"

五四运动前后几年留日作家在小说中塑造了大量日本人,其中日本女子占很大比重,并且类型多样,个性特征丰富,美好与丑恶并存。小说中日本女子与中国男子存在爱恋、婚姻和一般交往三种关系形态。这些女性形象反映了当时中日关系的某些方面,曲折地表现了留日作家复杂矛盾的日本观,折射出了丰富的历史文化内涵。

Writers, who went to Japan for further studies created many Japanese in their novels, of which Japanese women took much proportion, during the years before or after the “May Forth” movement. These Japanese women characters are of various types and they have their individual combined personalities of goodness and ugliness. There are three types of relationship between Japanese women and Chinese men ： love, marriage, and common relations. These Japanese women characters reflected some respects of the relationship between China and Japan, and complex views of those wrtiers towards Japanas as well, which showed the rich historical and cultural connotations.
