动词happen、occur和“发生”的语言差异性探究——一项基于英汉语料库的调查与对比分析

A Corpus-based Study of the Differences between the Three Synonyms: happen, occur & “fasheng”(发生)

本文运用语料库语言学的研究方法,分别对happen、occur和“发生”三个词汇进行检索,通过统计它们在语料库的不同语域中的词频分布差异,观察检索行中所呈现的不同搭配关系、类联结和语义韵等语言特征以厘清它们之间存在的差异。该方法能够对传统的词汇辨析起到一种行之有效的补充作用。

This paper compares three verbs: happen, occur and fasheng(发生) on the basis of corpus data. Two English corpora and a small-size modern Chinese corpus are employed along with the concordance software Myfinder. The three synonyms are differentiated with reference to their distributions among different registers, their significant collocates and their collocational behaviours and semantic prosodies with regard to certain colligational frameworks. All these researches will have significant implications for English learning and teaching.
