Synaesthesia has been unanimously regarded as one of the rhetorical approaches, in which a person＇s five senses are mixed together, they can transfer from each other. This paper deals with the conception of synaesthesia, its formation as well as its cognitive basis. It draws a conclusion that synaesthesia is an extraordinary collocation, every type of synaesthesia is a kind of semantic extraordinary collocation.
