On the Two-Dimension Relation of Scientific Culture and Humanistic Culture

科学文化与人文文化是人类文化空间中纵横不同的两个维度。前者是以理智为主导的实证性文化,侧重理性思维;后者是以直觉为主导的非实证性文化,侧重感性思维。尽管客体差异及运作规律不同,致使主体思维方式与认识方法不同,但在文化体系的物质层面、制度层面和精神层面的整体中,却彼此渗透,相互影响:依靠科学技术诞生的物质成果越来越依赖于人文文化,人文文化的发展也离不开科学技术所创造的物质世界;科学的社会建制体现了科学活动的文化价值和惯例,科学文化的制度层面渗透了人文因子,并体现着人文文化的要求;科学精神不仅求真,而且求善,人文精神不仅求善,往往与求真密切相关。二者都致力于人类的文明进步和人自身的完善,因此,促进二者的统一,是人类文化历史发展的必然。

Science culture and humanity culture are two dimensions of human culture space. That is new -born material achievements based on science and technology depend more and more on humanity culture, and the latter also cannot develop without science -created physical world; scientifically - established institution presents a cultural value and convention of scientific activities, while humanity factors in scientific and cultural system embody the requirement of humanistic culture; science seeks for both truth and kindness, and humanistic spirit for kindness as well as relevance with truth. Both cultures serve cultural progress of human society and man＇s self - improvement. So it is certainty of cultural and historical development of mankind to promote them in union.
