Methods for characterizing powder properties, such as flowability （i. e. , angle of repose and Carr index） and compressibility （i. e. , strain index, brittle fracture index and bonding index）, were outlined and specific approaches to feature powder properties rely on real needs of a project. An immobile procedure of powder characterization is then inappropriate. Quantitative characterization of powder indexes and functionalities provides reliable references for the quality control of intermediates in the preparation of solid pharmaceuticals, e. g. , tablets, capsules or granules.
