The anti-corruption efforts in Nigeria have caught much international concern for its important regional statue in Africa. Corruption had been an obstacle during the economic and social development in Nigeria, and in fact, it damaged its reputation in the world. Many international conventions and organizations once required Nigeria to prevent and eliminate corruption so that they can admit its application. Some creditor nations have regarded the anti-corruption as their pre-condition to provide aid to Nigeria. The Transparency International also has paid more attention to the anti-corruption efforts in Nigeria. The Government came to power through a domestic election, and it has taken many steps to combat with corruption. The international societies have given a high appreciation on Nigeria's anti-corruption efforts.
