The Conflict between the Instinct of Civilization and the Instinct of Savagery——A Brief Personality Analysis of the Main Characters in Golding's "Lord of the Flies"

本文运用弗洛伊德的人格理论,通过对1983年诺贝尔文学奖得主英国作家戈尔丁的代表作《蝇王》主要人物拉尔夫、西蒙、杰克的人格结构分析,让大家更好地理解小说所揭示的主题:童心的泯灭,文明天性与野蛮天性的冲突以及人性的邪恶。

With Freudian theory,this paper analyzes the personality of the main characters： Ralph,Simon and Jack in English writer William Golding＇s representative works-Lord of the Flies-which was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1983.Through the analysis we＇ll have a better understanding of the themes of the novel：the loss of innocence; the conflict between the instinct of civilization and the instinct of savagery, and the evil of human nature.
