Global shipbuilding orders have experienced a shift from Europe to Japan and then to South Korea, and the industry now undoubtedly agrees that the next country to come is China. The fact is true for the developing trend of Chinese shipbuilding has made the current two largest shipbuilding countries Japan and South Korea feel like sitting on thorns. However, in sharp contrast with the high zest of Chinese shipbuilding, steel industry ap- pears so calm casting a sort of shadow on the shipbuilding industry. As the world's largest iron and steel making country, China is unable to meet the demand of domestic shipbuilding industry. This is difficult to understand. However, the Chinese shipbuilding industry needs strong support from the steel making industry because only by being self-sufficient or even able to lead the world market in ship's steel supply can the world's No. 1 shipbuilding country and No.1 country become a rea ron and steel making worth.
