This paper gives a brief introduction about the characteristics of the profibus-DP fieldbus technology and the network structure of a control system designed for an electric propulsion test-bed based on the Profibus-DP. The paper also describes the communication protocol between the Profibus-DP master station and the inverter, network configuration, the parameter setting and programming method. The Profibus-DP control system is simple in wiring, convenient in maintenance and reliable in operation. The system meets the design requirements.
