On the number of dynasties establishing their capitals in Xi'an

关于在西安建都朝代多少的说法有许多种。对这些说法进行了综合研究,在此基础上,结合广义古都论指出西燕政权也在西安建都,这样西安作为正式的都城有21朝。西安在历史上还曾经6次作为陪都,而陪都也是古都的一种。减去重合的3朝(东汉、夏、武周),西安建都朝代可以达到24朝。

There are various statements about the number of dynasties that established their capitals in Xi＇an. After comprehensive study of these statements and in accordance with the definition of an ancient capital in broad sense, this paper points out that the Xiyan regime also established its capital in Xi＇an. Therefore, there are 21 dynasties established their capitals in Xi＇an. Besides, in the history of China, six dynasties took Xi＇an as a vice capital, which is also a kind of ancient capitals. After subtracting the three dynasties （the Eastern Han Dynasty, the Xia Dynasty and the Zhou Dynasty under King Wu＇s control） that are calculated twice, there are 24 dynasties that established their capitals in Xi＇an.
