A Tentative Discussion on the Salt Industry of Yushan in Pengshui,Chongqing

重庆彭水郁山盐业历史悠久,自春秋时期开始开采以来,一直持续到20世纪80年代,是巴地盐业的重要组成部分。它的生产在不断开发中有很大的起伏性,由于工艺落后,直到清代才有较大的规模。彭水郁盐的运输极为艰难,工具亦较为简单,主要有陆运和水运两种形式,但行销的范围较为广大。彭水郁盐的开发对推动该地少数民族的进步,巩固西南边疆。

The salt industry of Yushan in Pengshui, Chongqing, has an honored history, dating back to the early exploitation in the Spring and Autumn Period and developing towards 1980＇s. It is also an important component of salt industry in Ba District. The production process witnessed ebbs and flows due to the backward technique and it did not develop into a large production scale until the Qing Dynasty. Both land and water transportation were extremely difficult with rough tools but the salt in Yushan had a wide sales network. The development of salt industry in Yushau is of important significance to the advancement of local ethnic groups and the enhancement of Southwest borders as well as the stability of the nation as a whole.
