On Hypotaxis of English and Chinese-English Translation

英语、汉语在语言学上有很多区别。汉语注重意合,注重功能、意义。常常不用或少用连接手段,语言中词与词、句与句的组合主要是凭借语义上的关系和联想达成的;而英语注重形合,注重句子结构、形式的完整和逻辑的合理。正确认识英语重形合,汉语重意合的特点及其相对性,对于汉英翻译有很大的实践意义。

There are many differences between English and Chinese in terms of linguistics. The article mainly makes a distinction between expressions of the two languages： hypotaxis and parataxis. The English language lays emphasis on hypotaxis and the Chinese language on parataxis.
