ＭＲＰＩ是一种规范化的管理系统，选择ＭＲＰＩ软件同样也要遵循一种规范化的程序．文章强调企业决策人理解ＭＲＰＩ原理的必要性。指出需求分析和投资效益分析是体现８６３／ＣＩＭＳ主题提出的＂需求导向，效益驱动＂的精神及其重要性．只有做好项目的前期工作才能避免采用ＭＲＰＩ系统的盲目性，减少不必要的损失，并为项目的成功实施建立良好的开端。文章还介绍了软件选择标准和选择软件的步骤和注意事项。
MRP II is a formal sysytem, select an MRP II software should also follow a formal process as well. The article emphasized the importance understanding of MRP II principle by the decision maker, and the necessities of Requirement Analysis and Cost/ Benifit Analysis before making the decision by the top management . The criteria of MRPII software selection and the approaches of selecting the software were also discussed.
