On China’s Diplomatic Objectives of Peaceful Development: A Cognitive Perspective

中国外交目标实际上是一个主观见之于客观的认知,中国外交目标的设定是一个主观见之于客观的过程。在设定目标的过程中,自我认识必须参考他者认识,内向思考与外向思考相结合,在此基础上,从国家利益出发得出合乎客观的主观认识。中国外交目标的认知与判断,具体体现为关于发展目标、政治目标、安全目标和文化目标的认知与判断,国家利益是检验认识正确与否的标准。作为一种主观认识,中国外交目标的设定是一种价值选择,它主要取决于中国对客观环境、自身国力的主观判断。

The contents of the objectives mainly cover the fields of politics, security, and culture. As a subjective cognition and a choice of values, the formulation of China’s diplomatic objectives is mainly a subjective judgment by China about its objective environment and national power.
