南朝和北朝的乐府民歌,因南北两朝社会环境、人民风尚的不同,在风格上表现出很大的差别:南朝民歌比较温柔婉转,北朝民歌比较质朴刚健。

Yuefu folksongs in the South and North Dynasties have great differences in style resulting from different social environment and customs. Those in the South Dynasty are more gentle and soft tactfully while those in the North Dynasty are simple and forceful.
