The Historical and Geographical Study of Raw Material of Dress in Lingnan

在热带亚热带地理条件下,岭南具有丰富的生物、矿物等服饰原料资源。在土著文化和外来文化共同影响下,棉、麻、丝、葛、蕉、竹、树皮、珍珠、骨、珊瑚、金、银、玉等服饰质材和染料等在岭南生产、加工和分布历史兴衰,以及它们所具有的生产历史悠久、分布广泛、加工技艺精湛、质量上乘,并向岭北传播等特点,在中国服饰历史地理上占有重要一席之地。只在鸦片战争后,在洋货倾销下,岭南大部分服饰原料生产和加工沦于消亡,只有少数保留至今,成为名产。

In the influence of both native and outer cultures, the history of production, process and distribution of dyestuff and dress materials such as cotton, hemp, silk, Ge, plantain, bamboo, bark, jewel, bone, coral, gold, silver and jade in Lingnan and its characteristics of long history of production, extensive distribution, consummate skill of process, upper quality, diffusion from Lingnan to Lingbei play an important role in historical geography of Chinese dress. Only after Opium War, with foreign goods pouring in, most of the raw material production and process of dress in Lingnan were disappeared, a few left now become well-known.
