We try to find out the earlieat example of using ＂Geda＂ and the development of theae meanings and the relation among morphologies in this article. The word ＂Geda＂ has different written forms in ancient documents and it has 6 meanings among which 3 meanings are used in contemporary standard Chinese. The meaning of ＂Geda＂ differs in different dialects. The ＂Geda＂ spoken as ＂Difang＂ only appears in Northeast dialect.
