This paper analyses the merits of An Advanced Oxford English - Chinese and Chinese - English Dictionary （ sixth edition） by examples. The merits consist in choosy selection of new words, extruding the learning function of the dictionary, clear explanation of new grammar codes and rich collocation information. In combination with the teaching practice, it introduces some experience on the use of An Advanced Oxford English- Chinese and Chinese- English Dictionary （sixth edition）.
