New Area of Moral Philosophy:From Normative Ethics to Metaethics

摘要元伦理学是研究规范伦理学和应用伦理学未加证明的前提和假设的理性反思活动。没有对这些前提和假设的讨论和证明,规范伦理学对许多问题的探讨和证明是不充分的,并有可能犯“论点预设不当”的错误。这些前提和假设包括:道德判断是否表达可以有真假的信念?究竟有无道德事实?道德知识如何可能?道德动机如何可能?道德辩护如何可能?对这些问题的追问和探索,最终会导致对实践理性的考察和反思,反过来会极大推动道德问题以及和行动相关的其他学科,如政治学、国际关系学、行政管理学、决策学等的研究。因此,如果人们想更深入地探讨规范伦理学的问题以及道德问题,就必须考察规范伦理学所预设的前提和假设,开拓新的道德研究领域,从规范伦理学走向元伦理学。 Metaethics is a study of rational reflection on some unjustified premises or assumptions implied in normative ethics and applied ethics. Without such study or reflection, normative ethical theory on some moral issues is not adequate and possibly commits the fallacy of ＂begging the question＂. What is more important is that, without theoretical concepts and frames provided by metaethics, we cannot explore some normative questions or issues with efficiency and depth. Therefore, if we want to achieve significant im- provement and progress on normative ethical questions or problems, we must reflect on unjustified premises and assumptions assumed in normative ethics, and we must move from normative ethics to metaethics.
