周凯《劝襄民种桑说》浅评

周凯,清代道光二年(1822年)出任襄阳太守。在任职期间,曾著《劝襄民种桑说》三篇,备述种桑养蚕之利。周氏这种念切民瘼的精神,是难能可贵的,为今日山区人民脱贫致富,发挥山区优势,因地制宜地开展多种经营,也有一定的启发和借鉴作用。其《劝襄民种桑说》的主要内容如下:①坐失种桑之利,乃为人民生活贫困之根源;②力排异说,极言襄阳宜于种桑;③种桑关系着襄民安居乐业。

ZHOU Kai, a successful candidate in the highest imperial examination of Qing Dynasty in 1811, took up the post of head of a commander of Xiangyang County in 1822. When he hold the position, he wrote the three pieces of Doctrine of Exhorting Farmers in Xiangyang County Planting Mulberry Trees （ 《劝襄民种桑说》）,and expounded the advantages of planting mulberry trees and raising silkworms comprehensively.
