The Hor-pa who live in Kangbei (north of the Kangding,康北) areas is a branch of the Tibetan. They have deferent dialect, and physical and cultural features from their neighboring tribes. Their origin is linked generallywith the Mongols to some extent. This paper argues that it is quite possible that the origin of the Hor-pa is linked with the Yellow head Uygurs (黄头回鹘), or Sari Uygurs who lived in the north-western China in Yuan Dynasty. In 1331 B.C., a troop of the Sari Uygur moved into Kangbei areas and blended with other ethnic groups around them graduallyand became a branch of the Tibetan. But some cultural tradition and physical features of Sari Uygur are still kept, so other Tibetans call them Hor-pa.
