Compensational Measures in Information Shifting in English-Chinese Translation

信息性指语篇能够给接受者传达新的或意想不到的东西,指一个译本能够提供给目的语读者关于原文中的事件、状态、过程、物体、个人、地方和机构等方面的信息。在翻译实践中,要重组一个适用于目的语社会的语篇,不仅仅是表层结构(如字、词、句)的信息转换,更重要的是转移原文的交际价值。

According to the text linguistic approach, the nature of translation is its＂ meaning＂, shifting from one language to another language, including ： semantic, pragmatic and textual. A text should meet seven standards of textuality. Informativity is one of the standards. This paper deals with the information shifting problems in English - Chinese translation. Translator should take different compensational measures to transfer the information of SL text to the readers of TL text.
