Chinese railways face the critical situation under the conditions of market economy. A concrete ideas are described in the areas as follows; reform of the management and administration system, readjustment of passenger train structure, improvement of passenger train speed, rational arrangement of passenger stations, construction of fundamental installation for passenger traffic, applications of scientific and technical means and modernization equipment, and cultivation of staff and workers.
