《寂静的春天》是一部美国文艺生态学著作,作者卡逊以文学作品的形式描述了人类的利己活动,无休止地向大自然索取,肆意破坏自然环境,而导致了生态失衡、水土流失、大气及水污染……书中向世人传播了生态保护的理念及解决危机的办法。以期对西方生态文艺与西方文化的关系达成一定的理解。

Silent Spring is a works on America ecology from the artistic point of view. The author Carson describes people＇ s selfish activities like unconstrained exploitation of nature, imprudent destruction of natural environment, which has resulted in ecological unbalance, soil being washed away, air and water being polluted…. This novel propagates her ideas of protecting ecology and her solutions to ecological problems for the purpose of securing some understanding of the relationship between the Western ecology literature and the Western culture.
