CD24 is a mucin-like adhesion molecule that recently has raised considerable attention in tumor biology. CD24 expression in ovarian cancer, breast cacner, uterus tumor, prostate tumor and lung cancer were elevated. CD24 plays an important role in the development of tumor, through promoting the proliferation of tumor cells and enhancing the metastatic potential, of malignant cells. Understanding the functions and implications of CD24 might aid the clinician in the selection of an appropriate therapy for individual patients.
